Moving to Canada

Importing Personal and Household effects into Canada is
Duty free under the following conditions:

SETTLERS (immigrants)
Goods and automobiles were owned and in
possession and used in the former country
of domicile prior direct removal from that
country for a period of at least 12 months.

FORMER RESIDENTS
They resume residence after an absence of not less than one year.

SEASONAL RESIDENTS
Import of used household & personal effects on a ONE time entry basis. Goods cannot be sold for at least 1 year.
 
TRANSIT TIMES
Groupage – share a container service to 6-10 weeks door to door. Sole use containers 2 to 6 weeks port to port. There is a weekly service for FCL’s. Transit times do vary depending on customs or immigration delays, weather conditions, time of year and the volumes being shipped.
